12 Days of Anime: Day 8

A few days ago I was talking about a certain director I happened to very much enjoy during the year of 2015. Rie Matsumoto really has been rising to fame with this year’s Kekkai Sensen and with very much reason at that! She’s one of the absolute best directors in the industry and one of the greatest creative minds, but Kekkai Sensen wasn’t actually the show she first showed that in! Kyousogiga actually already aired about 2 years ago in the Fall Season of 2013, but only this year, I finally got around to watching it and I was absolutely blown away. The cinematography within the show, the atmosphere created through with the great Soundtrack and the Story itself! It all blended together to make one of the greatest memories I’ve made in Anime so far!

I have to admit here I don’t actually remember the exact details of Kyousougiga as I did watch it very early on in 2015 and it very much is time to rewatch the show soon, but I remember being stunned by it’s sheer beauty and the way it told it’s story and that by the end I was left with incredible satisfaction by a show that really is looking for it’s equals as one of the very best in recent years and one that definitely needs more recogniation!

Go watch Kyousougiga! (If you have already, go watch it again)

12 Days of Anime 2015: Day 1

It’s finally time to start off the 12 days of Anime and for the first one, we’re already talking about something rather controversial. Charlotte has been one of the most popular shows of the year, mostly thanks to writer behind it, that of course being Jun Maeda, famous for works like Clannad, Angel Beats, Little Busters and many others, however the show wasn’t exactly well received by everyone and honestly, for good reason. I don’t believe, that Charlotte is even close to being a good show as a whole. A lot of the story itself barely makes any sense, the pacing is all over the place and the character casts very much varies between pretty cool and absolutely awful, but well…..luckily 12 days of Anime doesn’t actually require me to use Anime I liked as a whole to talk about. The reason I chose Charlotte for one of the spots on this list, is due to it’s rare, but all the more impactful scenes that it is actually good in, my favorite most likely being episode 7. While everything before episode 5 was pretty decent to quite nice and episode 6 was absolutely dreadful and easily one of the worst episodes I’ve seen all year, the episode afterwards was….surprisingly fantastic. While it certainly didn’t make up for the mess, that the show was as a whole, it and some of the following episodes, especially episode 8, definitely were the best part of the show and possibly some of my favorite episodes of the entire season. The characters did actually turn out to be surprisingly interesting during these episodes and their development worked fantastically, now if only the series as a whole would’ve actually used that…..

12 days of Anime 2015: Introduction

It’s that time of the year again! The bells are ringing all around the town, snow is falling entangling the entire city with in a white coat, beautiful lights are being set up everywhere! Except that we’re still waiting for the continuation of the snow party that started some time about a month ago here in Germany and we actually completely forgot to decorate anything around the house, but that’s irrelevant for now! Christmas is coming very soon and to commemorate that, the Anime community has once again come together to celebrate what we know as the 12 days of Anime!

So what exactly does this mean? What the hell are the 12 days of Anime and why should you care about it?
The 12 days of Anime is a project started by the Youtuber DoctorDazza four years ago. It’s goal is mostly just to bring together the Anime Youtuber/Blogger and general content creating community, with everyone making 12 videos, or in this case blog posts, that are released on a daily basis between the 13th and 25th of December! These posts will basically be me talking about my favorite moments in Anime, Manga or anything alike over the entire last year, so basically a look back on what I loved since 2015 began and honestly I already have quite a bit I really want to talk about!

If you want to participate in the 12 days of Anime yourself, check out Dazza’s introduction video as he probably explains the entire process behind the project much better than me!

Also this is the link to the database of people that will be participating in this year’s 12 days of Anime!

I’ve tried doing this in a video format before and it didn’t work out too well (I’m not very proud of the result), so let’s hope that this time around it will work out better! Well then…see you on December 13th (or maybe even earlier than that?)!
